Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can I schedule one of your seminars for a private group of my friends and their daughters (meaning not a school or Girl Scout Troop)?
A: Yes, you certainly can. San Diego-based parents can contact Healthy Chats via the form on our Contact Page to schedule a seminar.
Q: How should I prepare my pre-teen girl for one of your seminars?
A: Simply tell her that it will be a fun, informational afternoon and that you want to share some important details about growing up with her. If you are going attend a seminar with her friends, you can tell her that it will be a comfortable, friendly environment with her friends there. If it is another group, just explain to her that other moms and girls like you will be there for a fun, friendly presentation.
Q: How much information about "the Birds and the Bees" do you present to the girls?
A: Rest assured that the mothers will be the ones to decide if they want the explanation about conception presented to the girls. The information about conception is presented in an age-appropriate manner and within the context of adult behavior and marriage. Dr. de Freitas will gather with the mothers during the break to discuss this further.
Q: Will the information overwhelm my daughter?
A: Being able to review this information in a safe environment is the gift that Dr. de Freitas has to offer. The information in the entire seminar is presented in a way that emphasizes health, the beauty of being a female, and the amazement of how our bodies work.
Q: What if I have two daughters close in age, should I bring both to the same seminar?
A: It may be best for each daughter to share this special time with her mom while attending a seminar of this nature. However, if the timing or logistics are difficult, both daughters can certainly attend the same seminar with you.
Q: Could a step-mother, grandmother or other female in my daughter's life attend too?
A: Yes other important women in your daughter's life are welcome. However, at times we may be restricted by the size of the space in the hosting home so please check with us regarding availability. (Note: Please refer to the Mother-Daughter seminar page on this site regarding additional fees.)
